" The Mosaic Table "
I learned tonight that my great aunt B passed away.. She was "The eccentric one " on my moms side of the family.. We have all said at one time in our lives - What the hell is aunt B talking about ? She would write letters to my mom, I would read them over and over and still never got them. Because, you see she was eccentric yes.. but more importantly , she was a genius with a free spirit.. I see that now, when I was young I just saw a person who saw beauty in things others didn't. My aunt B was a teacher, which in my opinion, is the greatest job one can do. She was always playing the piano, she always had friends around her, she always helped people. She would pile my older sister and I in her vw bug ( which later became fixed up for me for my graduation ) and was a car I drove for years.. she would cart us off to church every now and then to go to Sunday school... I can remember spending countless hours in her back yard just walking around it, staring at all her eccentric sculptures and or yard art. She had a table made of cement, that she had glued mosaic pieces to. I thought it was the most beautiful table in the world I loved staring at it, sitting at it, drawing at it. And to this day, I remember how I felt when I was at her house. I felt free. Free from worries, free to ask questions, free to create.. Im glad your free now aunt B..I will never forget you, I love you ..

Wow...I don't remember the mosiac table. I remember putting make-up on her friend's strofoam wig holders, watching the bug whenit was orange being towed out of there with a truck, chunky soup, and i think a goat in the backyard i watched eat a milk carton. I was amazed... All I can thinkk is holey smoley. what a difference six years can make in memories. I wish I could have had the opportunity to remember sweet things like you do. Rest in Peace Aunt B, if you dont mind could you tell Granny I'm sorry for telling her I was deaf that time...lol. Man did she whip my ass for that LOL, Ahhhh the old days of irish spring soap and geese on the table, I love you D, and i miss you.Katie
